چکیده

Abstract Biochar application into soil has potential as a means for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and climate mitigation strategy. In this study, we evaluated the impact of two doses biochar (10 20 t.ha −1 ) applied in 2014, combined with three fertilization levels (N0, N1, N2) on carbon dioxide (CO 2 field conditions during growing season (April – October) 2018. The site is located Nitra region Slovakia Malanta. was classified silt loam Haplic Luvisol. There not found any statistically significant ( P <0.05) decreasing effect or without N-fertilizer after four years its average daily cumulative CO emissions, while increased additional N-fertilizer. decreased (insignificantly) only treatments N-fertilization treatment fertilized higher level (20 (80 kg.N.ha ). According to these results it can be concluded that able reduce when usual agriculture practices which include N-fertilization.

Effects of Biochar on Soil Microbial Biomass after Four Years of Consecutive Application in the North China Plain

The long term effect of biochar application on soil microbial biomass is not well understood. We measured soil microbial biomass carbon (MBC) and nitrogen (MBN) in a field experiment during a winter wheat growing season after four consecutive years of no (CK), 4.5 (B4.5) and 9.0 t biochar ha(-1) yr(-1) (B9.0) applied. For comparison, a treatment with wheat straw residue incorporation (SR) was a...

Hardwood biochar and manure co-application to a calcareous soil.

Biochar may affect the mineralization rate of labile organic C sources such as manures via microbial community shifts, and subsequently affect nutrient release. In order to ascertain the positive or negative priming effect of biochar on manure, dairy manure (2% by wt.) and a hardwood-based, fast pyrolysis biochar were applied (0%, 1%, 2%, and 10% by wt.) to a calcareous soil. Destructive sampli...

Soil carbon sequestration and biochar as negative emission technologies.

Despite 20 years of effort to curb emissions, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions grew faster during the 2000s than in the 1990s, which presents a major challenge for meeting the international goal of limiting warming to <2 °C relative to the preindustrial era. Most recent scenarios from integrated assessment models require large-scale deployment of negative emissions technologies (NETs) to reach th...

Chloropicrin Emission Reduction by Soil Amendment with Biochar

Biochar has sorption capacity, and can be used to enhance the sequestration of volatile organic contaminants such as pesticides in soil. Chloropicrin (CP) is an important soil fumigant for the production of many fruit and vegetable crops, but its emissions must be minimized to reduce exposure risks and air pollution. The objective of this study was to determine the capacity of biochar to adsorb...

Biochar Application Effects on Soil Phosphorus Sorption and Release

We investigated the effects of chromate (CrVI) and phosphate (P) on their uptake and translocation in As-hyperaccumulator Pteris vittata (PV). Plants were exposed to 1) 0.05 mM CrVI and 0, 0.05, 0.25 or 1.25 mM P or 2) 0.25 mM P and 0, 0.05, 0.25 or 1.25 mM CrVI for 24 h in hydroponics. PV accumulated 2,919 mg/kg Cr in the roots at CrVI0.05, and 5,100 and 3,500 mg/kg P in the fronds and roots a...
